ABOUT DAVID LEONARDIS -- CHICAGO ART DEALER (and happy art collector)
David Leonardis is: An aficionado, an art collector, an art dealer, an artist, an art curator, a successful business man, a television host, a pop culture icon and a Chicago treasure for the last 25 ears. He has single handedly propelled many artists into the limelight and is still doing so to this day. His ethic is simple. He enjoys making people happy by creating art for them and selling art to them.
David has enjoyed making art since as a young man he would sell drawings he made to family and friends. In his lexicon David says he noticed his works were "much happier when they were purchased." This fact illustrates his unrelenting commitment to the dynamic link that exists between the artist, the art, and the art buyer.
Nothing makes David Leonardis happier then placing happy art (art that is sold), with a happy art buyer. David sees empty walls as a challenging opportunity and always asks: "Why isn't there great art on that wall?"
David Leonardis Galleries are at the forefront of 21st century American Art. DLG also carries 19th century French lithographs and 20th century Contemporary, Pop, Folk Art and Photography. David's focus is simple: "I enjoy making people and corporations happy by selling them art." In life there are many paths of devotion -- David's life has been devoted to finding great homes for great art -- this is eminently laudable in and of itself!
By now we're sure you've noticed a recurring theme. However, unlike the smarmy promotional boiler plate one often finds on "about" pages, at DLG these are not empty words! They are an entirely accurate depiction of one man's mission in life. The proof is David's legendary and lifelong commitment to this simple goal -- making people and businesses happy by providing each with an opportunity for self expression through buying and collecting art which is meaningful to them.
